I am of the opinion that my mate Pat Fisher and I are the only ones to have found each other after 40 years, via the BBM site.
Is this right?

No Brian, you are not the only ones to make contact in 40 years via the BBM site.Have just made contact with two ship mates from the 1961 arrival on the Fairsky, just in time for our 50th re-union next year .One made contact from the UK and the other was hiding himself in Sydney, we hope to have another two join us from the UK in 2011.
Keep looking mate,we are still three missing from our original group and one has passed away.We are still looking for our escort officer Peter Foster if anyone knows where he is.

Cheers John Sibson

That is great John, best of luck.

Lets hope more of us can reunite for old times sake.

I have heard from one of my ship mates who lives in Sydney.
Pat was a pal in Sydney and New Zealand.

Hello again Brian, just curious to know how you ended up in Christchurch?
How long have you been there? We have visited a couple of times and have found it a very pleasant city,we particularly like Fendalton for its english style houses. We love the South Island and will visit again soon.
Cheers John

PS Hope you have some luck tracking down those little brothers,it was just a stroke of luck they read the BBM site,I'll bet half of the blokes who came out don't know it exists.

Hello John,
My mate Pat and I decided on the spur of the moment that we would go Deer culling in NZ,which never did.
I spent most of the time in the North Island, but in 93 we came south and started a vineyard,it was a disaster due to unsuitable weather in Ch Ch.

I ended up in Christchurch and Pat ended up back in the UK.

If you are ever back in NZ let me know and we can have a chat.

Thanks Brian, will certainly keep in contact and would like to meet up for a beer when we next cross the ditch,we love it there and would like to spend more time around Wanaka. When we were there,we came across a lovely estate called Far Horizons and noticed one home had a vineyard planted in his front garden, how do you think he would go there? One of my favourite spots and if I could convince my wife, would move there for a while.Anyway I can dream, can't I??
Cheers John

My last home John had 10 acres of vinyard in it.
It's a business fraught with problems, but it certainly looks romantic.
Very lovely round Wanaka and Queenstown area.

Did you say what part of Australia you ended up in?
I spent most of my time in north west NSW.

Look forward to your visit.

Hello again Brian,26 years in Perth after 13 years back in the UK,currently on the Gold Coast looking to sell up and move back to Perth where my family are living, might even consider apartment living for a while so I can lock up and leave.Off back to the UK & Italy in Sept/Oct,for our last trip(unless I win lotto).
Cheers mate

Hi John,
Sounds like you have been around.
For myself,I married a kiwi girl in 65,never had any children and have no regrets. Now live on an acre just out of Ch Ch where I make funiture, mainly as an interest, but make some pocket money too.
I can't imagine not being able to be a bit creative with my days,Barb my wife is a gardener and the acre keeps her both busy and happy.
How people write books is beyond me,I feel I have said most in those few words,so I won't take up the pen as a hobby.
Don't forget when in Ch Ch give me a call.
All the best pal,
Brian J.
